Recovery is Possible.

With Woody Giessmann, that's what you'll find, a space to be honest and start finding your way forward. Whether you're facing addiction, supporting a loved one, or carrying the weight of it all, you don't have to be alone. You can recover.

Meet Woody

A Counselor Who's Walked This Road Himself

Hi, I'm Woody Giessman

My Approach

I'm a Licensed Counselor (LADC-I), Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), and Board-Certified Interventionist (CIP), based in Massachusetts. For over thirty years, I've worked alongside individuals and families navigating addiction, co-occurring mental health struggles, and the isolation that comes with them, and I've built my practice around one belief: healing starts with trust, not pressure.

I bring together proven methods like Motivational Interviewing, the ARISE intervention model, family-centered care, and the Johnson Model of Intervention, with compassion and without judgment. My goal is to help you regain a sense of your true authentic self.

My Experience

Before becoming a counselor, I spent years touring as the drummer for The Del Fuegos, a Warner Brothers recording artist, experience that gave me firsthand understanding of how addiction and untreated mental health intersect with real life. I hold a BA in Human Service Management from UMass and a master's certificate from Suffolk University.

I've also served on the Massachusetts Board of Registry in Medicine (BORIM), which means I bring both clinical rigor and hard-won real-world perspective to our work together.

Right Turn, Inc.

In March 2003, I founded Right Turn, Inc., a nonprofit outpatient program in Watertown, MA that ran until July 2024. It combined evidence-based care like DBT and CBT with art and music therapy, creating a welcoming community where people in recovery could find a sense of belonging.

Some of the artwork you see here was created within that very community, a reminder that healing and creativity have always gone hand in hand.

What You Can Expect

Our first session is about getting to know each other, no pressure, no assumptions. I'll ask what's brought you here, what you or your family have tried before, and what you're hoping will be different. From there, we find a path forward together, one that's actually built around your goals, not mine. You’ll always be met here without judgment, at your own pace.

What Guides My Work

My Mission

Book a free 30-minute consultation, no pressure, no commitment. It's just a conversation about what you're carrying (anxiety, grief, trauma, or something you can't quite name yet) and whether I'm the right person to help you carry it.
